Today I remembered about our trip to Mont Blanc in France, and this place makes me long for a road trip once again! And if you haven’t planned your holiday yet, you might get inspired by these places, near the highest summit in Alps: Mont Blanc. Visiting Mont Blanc and being on top of everything is really an experience so different from anything else you might have seen before. While closing in to the high mountain landscapes, nature throws in some spectacular scenery: places you only saw on covers or commercials, that make you wonder: Where are all these hiding? Here is one of the many we found while driving on road to Mont Blanc.
You can’t go up to Mont Blanc, unless you are an alpinist, but you can take a cable car from Chamonix Mont Blanc to Aiguille du Midi, a summit nearby.
The cable car was a little too crowded but besides that it was kind of funny ride; when passing over pillars, the cable car starts swinging over the gap and some people..like me.. were screaming, they might have joked but mine was for real! haha.
…all the way up to the Aiguille du Midi at 3842m. The top station of the Aiguille du Midi has several terraces where visitors can take in the spectacular views of the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. There are even wooden platforms where you can lay down to take short breaks for the fatigue caused by the rarefied air. On a clear day it is possible to see the Matterhorn, Monta Rosa and the Grand Combin. In summer time it is possible to spot climbers on their way up to this summit, as we did…
An elevator inside the rock rises the final 42m to the top terrace at 3842m. This is the closest point you can get to the Mont Blanc without climbing.
You can even pass underneath Mont Blanc ) through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, that gets you from France to Italy, as we did..
Some castles(Eg Fenis Castle) on the way to the next destination..
