Shooting at Conacul Maldar, Maldaresti, Romania
The land of Carpathians is a inexhaustible source of impressive landscapes, castels and fairytale mansions – the houses where the nobleman once lived. I was always captivated by places and buildings that have a story, the art with which every detail of each item is created or preserved to resemble the appearance of the original rooms, and keep that aged look and feeling of the entire building and the surroundings. It was that experience we had with our visit at Maldar Mansion settled in a village in the South of Carpathians. Maldaresti village is actually the home of various aristocrat mansions from XVII century, built as a fortress against Ottoman invasions, but Maldar Mansion is the only one that is offered for rent. These mansions are distinct monuments of Romanian arhitecture that join the rustic with fortress-like details in a delightful manner. Each room of Maldar Mansion is an exquisite ensemble, the authentic historical furniture, old beams and traditional rugs are harmoniously combined with modern comfort details. On arrival we were given the possibility to choose between each of its rooms, except the one that we wanted, the most popular one that looks so pretty on their website and was already taken, but as stated, all of their rooms are unique and beautiful in their own way. In the end I had the hardest time choosing between the room with authentic furniture from the ground floor and one with new furniture from the first floor and a cute balcony. I randomly choose the one with balcony but later I couldn’t help regretting that I haven’t had the chance to stay in the one with authentic furniture. I proposed to Radu we stay an extra day(just for the room 💝 ) and ask for the other room, but I kept on thinking how do I explain to these people why I want to change the room? “Yes, the room we stay in it’s beautiful, but.. I want to get closer to the old furniture” haha. Radu reminded me once again that I(or we) think different from most of the people, they wouldn’t get it..just like they wouldn’t let as serve the breakfast in the beautiful pavilion – full of flowers, in the morning, stating they are not authorised to do so..I think they were thinking: Why do these people want to carry their food all the way to the pavilion? We don’t get it..haha
All in one, it was a magical place, a beautiful experience, starting with the mansion’s rooms, wonderful kept surroundings, the nice pool where we had such a great time and of course their exemplary service – no one around but still someone being always there when you need it -, and the royal dinner serving meals from the local cuisine and their delicious rose wine ๐
While we stayed by the pool, we noticed someone cutting the grass from the beautifully kept garden surrounding the mansion and I was thinking it was such a waste, since we were the only visitors in there, how do they afford to maintain everything in perfect condition? Actually we were not alone in the mansion, there was another family too, but surprisingly we didn’t meet them, they went to sleep very early, so it felt like we had it all for ourselves.
For the dinner I choose to wear this special semi-sheer shirt from Oasap with layers of mesh with different patterns and sizes and a cute black bow. I purchased this shirt specially for wearing it at the mansion. I might not wear it for an every-day outfit, but it really matched perfect with this place, just like I imagined it would.
Love your skirt and the mansion!
