Duke Dumont – Ocean Drive
Maui’s Road to Hana, which I’ve presented in my previous post was really tiering, it is one of the most sinuous roads I’ve ever been to, probably the second after the one in Sequoia National Park. Given I’ve been pregnant it made things even worse. Now, one of my “precious” Hawaiian memories, is a vomit with banana bread taste, at least it was not sour, it was a pure sweet taste of banana and vanilla and I’m sure you were looking forward for this detail! haha. Sorry, but I had to keep this in the trip diary.
Even if we didn’t finish sightseeing Road to Hana, I obviously needed a break! So we headed in the opposite direction, to the west part of the island. We planned to visit the Iao Valley and drive on the road from the west coast, finally getting to Old Lahaina Luau for an open air party and dinner which included a traditional spectacle and menu.
For this post I’ve prepared some photos from the trip to Iao Valley and the west coast, since Old Lahaina Luau was so beautiful and deserves a separate post.
Iao Valley is like a park, it is pretty small and you’ll only go there to admire some beautiful mountain peaks, no hiking! But it is really amazing and it deserves a visit. The west coast was pretty bad in some places, with only one narrow lane, but we were lucky as no one crossed our way in those particular places. In here, we’ve seen some astonishing panoramas with high peaks and beautiful valleys with small Hawaiian villages.
